The Urban Assembly School for Green Careers is a new small NYC public high school opened in September 2009 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan committed to preparing all students for post-secondary success through quality, student-centered instruction designed to meet the needs of a wide range of learners. As a Career and Technical Education school focused on environmentally related careers, we seek to prepare students for the 21st century workforce. The instructional model includes longer, interdisciplinary classes with an emphasis on problem-based learning and a college preparatory curriculum. Students are graded using standards-based grading and assessed using performance-based assessments.
Position Overview:
We seek forward-thinking, committed and collaborative NYS- certified English as a Second Language (ESL), Chemistry, Physics and Earth Science teachers to join our faculty in late January. As our school grows, the faculty will be responsible for building the school's instructional and extracurricular programs, which will require a high degree of collaboration, communication, and flexibility.
Qualifications:
Dual certification in ESL or SWD and content area preferred. NYS Certification is required.
