HOK Washington, one of 24 offices of Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, provides a full range of design services to our clients in the mid-Atlantic region and worldwide. HOK is well known for its ability to manage the total planning, design, and construction process for large, complex projects with an emphasis on sustainable design. Our team of over 100 talented professionals bring unique and timeless designs to fruition.
We are looking for a motivated Sustainable Design Technician to join our team. Ideally, you are interested in using sustainability to solve design problems and enhance lives. This is a full-time position reporting to the Sustainable Design Leader.
What you'll do:
+ Assist in Project LEED certification process, including LEED Online. Projects may be based in HOK Washington, DC office as well as other locations. (Travel may be required.)
+ Oversee documentation for submission to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for Project LEED Certification.
+ Assist project team members with LEED Letter templates and calculations as needed.
+ Develop, modify, and review documents according to established standards and technical expertise for Project LEED certification.
+ Coordinate with project owners, engineers, consultants and internal staff on LEED and other sustainable issues and requirements.
+ Assist in development of internal LEED and sustainable design education programs.
+ Assist in carbon footprint or environmental impact assessments as needed. + Assist in development of environmental mitigation plans for single buildings, development projects, and portfolio-level implementation.
+ Research sustainable design technologies, systems, methods, products and LEED Credit Interpretation Requests.
Your qualifications:
+ Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred + 2 or more years of experience in climate change, storm water management, energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor air quality, land use, transportation or other environmental issues relevant to green building and development + Knowledge of USGBC LEED rating systems and LEED documentation process
+ Professional attitude in contact with staff and visitors
+ Strong writing and research skills
+ Must be organized and detail-oriented
+ Must manage time effectively in a deadline driven environment and multi-task
+ Ability to work without close supervision
+ Ability to accept and build on feedback
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and graphic software programs preferred
+ LEED AP certification or the ability and desire to become accredited after hire
