Position Overview

LORD has an immediate opening for a highly motivated individual, who is passionate about sustainability, to join our team. The Sustainability Services Associate’s primary responsibility will be benchmarking and optimizing buildings in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.

This entails working directly with property teams to gather building data; reviewing property documentation such as utility invoices, rent-rolls and stacking plans; reviewing existing ENERGY STAR accounts for accuracy; and assisting property teams in earning the ENERGY STAR Certification annually. Additional responsibilities include analyzing and implementing sustainability projects at the property level, supporting the Green Building Certifications team and supporting the Reporting Team in producing client sustainability reports.

The position requires a self-motivated individual with a strong technical inclination, precise organizational skills, as well as impeccable attention to detail. Preferably, candidates will have prior experience using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to benchmark buildings. A successful candidate must have the aptitude to analyze data, strong interpersonal communication, writing and time management skills.

This is a full-time position and will require a demanding 6-month training period. The candidate must be willing to work at our Dallas, TX office. Candidates that succeed in the Sustainability Services Associate role will have the ability to move up within the organization. The position responsibilities are outlined below.

Responsibilities

  • Benchmarking and optimizing properties using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
  • Direct communication with property teams
  • Reviewing property documentation such as utility invoices, rent-rolls and stacking plans
  • Data entry and verification
  • Property level sustainability project implementation
  • Assisting property teams in earning the ENERGY STAR Certification annually
  • Tracking compliance with green building legislation
  • Collaborating with team members on cross functional projects
  • Completion of green building certification documentation
  • Supporting the reporting team with writing and calculations for client sustainability reports

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Passion for sustainability and green buildings
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in sustainability, real estate, engineering, architecture or other related fields and/or 3 years of experience in similar field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PDF editor software
  • Experience benchmarking buildings in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, highly preferred
  • Proven track record of managing projects independently
  • Detail oriented, analytically inclined and quick learner/self-motivated
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects/perform a broad range of simultaneous duties, change priorities, and keep up with a continually heavy workload
