The County of Alameda in Oakland, California is recruiting for the position of Sustainability Project Manager which resides in the General Services Agency (GSA).
The recruitment is for a position that will have primary programmatic responsibility for internal recycling programs and will make significant contributions to other sustainability program areas such as waste reduction, climate change, green building and operations, environmentally preferable purchasing, sustainability policy, and education/outreach activities as assigned. The primary customers of GSA include other agencies within County government however this position will represent the County with the public, other government agencies, and private sector businesses.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and knowledge in the sustainability field, excellent program development and management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and experience conducting educational outreach. The candidate will have proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service, capability to build teams and partnerships, and a passion for driving results. The candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, financial management skills, and will be a self starter capable of operating with little supervision and will have the ability to escalate appropriately.
Minimum requirements include possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science or engineering, urban planning, public policy, social sciences, public or business administration or a related field AND the equivalent of four years of full-time increasingly responsible experience in the field of environmentally preferable procurement, sustainability, resources conservation, waste reduction, recycling, climate change green building or other related area including experience with responsibility for planning, administering, organizing and coordinating programs.
Possession of a masters degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, urban planning, public policy, social sciences, public or business administration or a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Private and public sector experience a plus.
The salary range for this position is $55K to $81K annually with generous benefits.
