Sustainability Intern

TriMet, the Portland Oregon's transit agency is seeking an intern for their sustainability program. The intern will assist sustainability programs with research and documentation support and will be responsible for: 

• research and preparation of reports and spreadsheets to summarize research findings 
• assisting with development and implementation of quarterly campaigns - assisting the facilitation of Sustainability Team meetings, preparing and organizing meeting materials and takeing meeting minutes 
• organization of reference materials 
• assisting with follow up and documentation of accomplishments and measurements - researching green products, services and procedures and making recommendations to staff 
• promoting staff participation in Sustainability Team activities including writing weekly tips for employee newsletter 
• conducting field research when assigned

The successful candidate will: 

• be currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate from, a college or university with course work in engineering, sustainability, public administration, public works administration or related field 
• have six months of experience working in an office environment 
• have experience in utilizing the Internet for research 
• have experience using word processing software and writing reports 
• have experience with developing and analyzing spreadsheets in Excel 
• previous experience with a sustainability program preferable but not required
