Summary Description: 

Assist Sustainability Program with research and documentation support. Perform other duties as required. 

Division: Capital Projects & Facilities
Report To: Manager, Facilities  

Essential Functions: 

  1. Research assigned or relevant materials. Prepare reports and spreadsheets to summarize research findings. 
  2. Assist with development and implementation of quarterly campaigns. 
  3. Assist in the facilitation of Sustainability Team meetings. Prepare and organize meeting materials. Take and prepare meeting minutes. 
  4. Organize reference materials. 
  5. Assist with follow up and documentation of accomplishments and measurements. 
  6. Research green products, services and procedures. Make recommendations to staff. 
  7. Promote staff participation in Sustainability Team activities including writing weekly tips for employee newsletter. 
  8. Conduct field research when assigned.

Prerequisites: 

  • Two years of college course work in engineering, sustainability, public administration, or public works administration. 
  • Six months of experience working in an office environment. 
  • Experience in utilizing the Internet for research. 
  • Experience using word processing software and writing reports. 
  • Experience with developing and analyzing spreadsheets in Excel. 
  • Previous experience with a sustainability program preferable but not required.

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Proven ability to analyze and research information. 
  2. Ability to prioritize, schedule and organize work to meet deadlines. 
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. 
  4. Ability to operate a computer and supporting word processing, spreadsheet and database software. 
  5. Ability to assess and sensitively serve the needs of customers, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds, the elderly, persons with disabilities and/or vulnerable populations.
