Position Overview
The
Sustainability Engineer Fellow will work closely with the NBCU social
responsibility and sustainability, facilities, and engineering teams across
NBCU monitoring emerging energy trends, programs, and opportunities with the
goal of identifying financial and energy gains across the NBCU portfolio.
With
an initial focus on the capital process and projects, the Fellow will work to
identify new energy intensive capital projects and opportunities with vendors
and project engineers to obtain the most energy efficient solutions
available. In addition, a critical
component of this position is the ability to design recommendations for
improved energy performance, while developing funding plans and a business case
for energy investments and best practices across NBCU.
This position is for one year.
Responsibilities
-
Manage
energy intensive capital projects, working with internal project engineers and
outside vendors to obtain and implement the most energy efficient solutions
available -
Show
how engineering decisions, particular with regard to design and new build can
support sustainability goals and develop proposals to support new energy
investments and technologies -
Develop
a high level work plan for NBCU to better understand its data center energy
fundamentals, including opportunities for energy efficiency and conservation -
Works
with facilities leaders to evaluate alternatives for energy generation - onsite
at NBCU properties - to improve energy reliability or to reduce energy costs or
reduce environmental footprint -
Establish
an understanding of energy reduction opportunities and better business
functionality within the NBCU engineering community
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's
Degree in engineering a must with a focus on sustainability engineering,
environmental engineering, energy/electrical engineering or other related field
(Will consider applications from currently enrolled graduate students or
students who have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master's program)
Eligibility Requirements:

Must
be willing to work in New York, NY -
Must
have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States -
Must
be 18 years or older
Desired Characteristics:
-
Strong
ability to apply engineering and decision-making tools and methodologies to
sustainability-related problems -
Heightened
awareness of issues in areas of sustainability, especially energy -
Experience
writing reports communication energy analysis findings -
Extensive
understanding of energy consuming systems in buildings - lighting, heating,
cooling, motors, IT equipment etc. -
Project
management skills
