Position Overview

Develop programs, monitor and deliver results tied to the increased efficiency and sustainability of the organization’s supply chain. The Sustainability Analyst role will work with the Corporate Sustainability Manager to establish a baseline, develop strategy and implement programs to minimize the environmental impacts associated with business operations; with a primary focus on supply chain.

  • Location: Lake Forest, IL based; travel up to 15-20% as required

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine and lead global sustainability priorities:
  • Data collection, technical analysis, and reporting associated with sustainability related initiatives with a primary focus on transportation & distribution activities, supplier engagement (direct and indirect), material use and waste/recycling.
  • Develop metrics, tools and scorecards to guide sustainability-related investment strategy.
  • Understand, evaluate and build mitigation strategies for greenhouse gas impacts associated with supply chain.
  • Identify innovation opportunities for pilot programs in an effort to build a business case for scalable, future investments.
  • Build cross-functional relationships and be able to influence partners to develop, implement, measure and report on program improvements.
  • Identify, engage with and manage external partners &/or resources to bring sustainable, best-practices into the supply chain operations.
  • Lead the organizations recycling program with a focus on increasing diversion rates, developing consistent reporting tools and maximizing rebates.
  • Evaluate and document the primary environmental impacts of materials used in company operations, as well as building and presenting recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with international business units to understand global supply chain impacts and opportunities. Share best practices and strategies promoting continuous improvement in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Reduce operating costs associated supply chain, resource consumption and waste.
  • Increased business partner understanding of sustainability value, objectives & results.
  • Establish Grainger as THE leader in sustainability in the MRO Industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or related fields; MBA a plus
    1-3 years of supply chain or related experience
  • Strong analytical and program management skills required
    Excellent interpersonal skills, as evidenced by success in persuading and influencing others
  • Experience with Life Cycle Analysis, Supply Chain Mapping a plus
