Description
The Irvine Nature Center is a non-profit educational organization that offers summer nature camp opportunities to children ages 2-12. Counselors are trained to lead hands-on environmental education activities on-site and off-site in field, forest, garden and stream environments.
MAJORS: Natural sciences, education or related fields
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead campers on nature explorations based on pre-determined lesson plans Assist with daily camp preparations Provide input in the planning of camp activities
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or higher education Work experience with children, preferably in a camp setting Strong interest in and experience in natural history subjects a plus Ability to interpret and fulfill natural history lesson plan objectives Good communication skills Certification in First Aid & CPR [paid by Irvine) Your own transportation
WHAT WILL I RECEIVE? Training in natural history and teaching techniques Experience teaching children outdoors $8.00/hour
TIME COMMITMENT: Monday - Friday; typically 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. Some sessions may require one overnight campout Camp season runs from approximately June - 1st week of August
