Description

The Campaign to Save the Environment is a project of the Fund for Public Interest Research, a national non-profit, grassroots organization. We provide tactical expertise for environmental and public interest organizations. This summer, we'll be working in 60 cities across the country with some of the most effective environmental groups in the world:

THE SIERRA CLUB is the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental group. The Club promotes conservation by influencing public policy at all levels - from the White House to Congress to state capitols.

THE STATE PUBLIC INTEREST RESEARCH GROUPS (PIRGs) are the nation's most effective public interest advocacy groups, active in 32 states. By combining professional research with grassroots advocacy, the state PIRGs work to protect the environment, fight for consumers' rights, promote good government, and win real victories that improve people's lives.

Despite our victories, there are countless environmental struggles yet to be resolved, and just as many adversaries to be confronted. As it stands, more than half the rivers and lakes in the U.S. are too polluted to safely fish or swim in, air pollution is becoming a public health epidemic, and global warming continues to have a drastically negative impact on both the climate and the natural environment. In addition, corporations spend millions of dollars every year attacking our existing environmental laws, and buying access to our legislators and Congress people.

Apply now by calling 1-800-75-EARTH.

You can stand up for public health, the environment, democracy and basic civil rights. You can go home each night feeling good about your work, and you can earn money doing it.

LEARN SKILLS - Learn how to fundraise door-to-door, run a press conference, build coalitions with local groups, and talk face to face with citizens about the problems we're facing and the solutions we're presenting.

TRAIN TO BE A LEADER - Learn how to motivate and mobilize a group of activists around important campaigns.

BECOME AN EXPERT ON THE ISSUES - You'll learn from the nation's top public interest advocates, grassroots organizers, and environmental issue experts.

We will be conducting on campus interviews at hundreds of colleges and universities throughout the country. Call to see if we are coming to a campus near you!
