SUMMER DAY CAMP INTERNSHIP Description:
Teach a variety of lessons in science and ecology both on and off site, in the field or classroom. Assist in include hands-on/minds-on lessons and activities within a predetermined theme. Serve as responsible counselor and positive role model for campers. Produce lesson plans and visually stimulating props. Lead games, crafts and field trips. Participate in Conservancy special events.
Availability: Mid-May to mid-August 2006
Qualifications:
Must be at least a junior in college with an academic background in science or ecology. Strong commitment to biodiversity, environmental quality and natural resources. Good communication, public speaking, organizational and leadership skills. Artistic and creative ability. Some teaching experience working with K - 8 grade aged children. Willingness to work outside the usual working hours. Ability to work in Florida summer conditions.
Certifications in first aid, CRP and life-saving, or ability to obtain. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. The Conservancy is a DRUG FREE and SMOKE FREE workplace. Non-compliance will result in immediate dismissal.

Furthermore the Conservation Associate will gain extensive knowledge of Florida's distinct natural history and unique ecosystem.
