Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Our core program is the three-year dual MBA/MS degree. 

Position Overview 

The Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise seeks a dedicated and organized Student Affairs Coordinator to support the Student Affairs Manager, with an emphasis on recruiting new students to the MBA/MS program.

This role serves as the first point of contact for student and applicant needs, ranging from applicant information, scholarship and award process tasks for current students, student academic information needs, and student professional development and social event support, as well as general support for alumni outreach. 

Responsibilities 

New Student Recruiting: 

  • Work with Erb staff to develop a global recruiting strategy.
  • Build networks and pipeline of students among diverse applicant pools (including students coming from abroad and those committed to underrepresented minorities in business and sustainability).
  • Communicate regularly with prospective students through email, social media, and other channels. 
  • Build relationships with relevant stakeholders at UM, including Ross and School of Natural Resources & Environment (SNRE) admissions officers, and Erb Student Advisory Board representatives.
  • Coordinate meetings with prospective students during their campus visits.
  • Travel occasionally to recruiting events, either sponsored by Erb or coordinated with other organizations (e.g. Ross or SNRE Admissions, or peer institutions).
  • Meticulously track data on prospective students on our customer relationship management database.
  • Maintain web pages and email lists targeted at applicants, students, and alumni. 
  • Assist with financial aid process by receiving and organizing the applications, the review process with alumni, and serving as the main contact with students. 

Student & Alumni Affairs Coordination: 

  • Act as primary point of contact for program-related inquiries from students, applicants, alumni, employers, media and others. Greet, field questions, and provide information and assistance to office visitors, telephone, email and web-based contacts.
  • Provide program coordination support including scheduling individual and group meetings, confirmation of speakers, event evaluations and summaries, assist students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors as needed; respond to and follow up on all requests from internal and external customers.
  • Manage student counseling schedule for Student Affairs Manager.
  • Maintain and organize swag (gift) inventory, register in Ross gift database and manage re-ordering of swag materials.
  • Receive and post job descriptions on Erb job board. 

Event Support: 

  • Organize and coordinate large community events for applicants, students, and alumni with tasks including location reservations, working with procurement for venue approval, catering, and attendance. Work with the Student Advisory Board VP of Community and Erb staff for event programming. Organize registration and marketing/communications for EAB events.
  • Oversee logistics of speaking events with Student Advisory Board representative in charge of Speaker Series events. 
  • Organize and prepare Orientation Day for incoming first-year Erb students, including swag, business cards, and name badges. 

Other: 

  • Assist Student Affairs Managers on special and ongoing projects. 

Qualifications 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated project management, event planning and organizational skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise initiative as a critical member of a team and to work independently with high efficiency and productivity.
  • Professional demeanor and customer service oriented manner.
  • Proven ability to successfully interact with a diverse group of people.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and/or their Google equivalents.
  • Ability to manage a customer relationship management database.
  • Working knowledge of social media strategies. 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Passion for business and sustainability, as well as higher education.
  • Additional languages (especially Mandarin, Portuguese and/or Spanish) a plus.
  • Connections to networks of potential diverse applicant pools. 

Additional Information: 

  • Skills testing may be required. 

Physical Demands/Work Environment: 

  • The person in this position routinely communicates with students about financial aid, programs, events, activities, etc.
  • The person in this position routinely presents information at events.
  • The person in this position occasionally moves through the building to attend meetings/events and access files or information.
  • May require work during early mornings, nights, and/or weekends
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
