Portland Energy Conservation Inc. (PECI) is the national leader in energy efficiency consulting in the Commercial-Retail market.
The Director of our rapidly growing Commercial-Retail sector is seeking a smart consultant who will work as her right hand assistant in continuing the rapid growth of this business sector.
The Commercial-Retail sector focuses on providing energy efficiency solutions to retail facilities such as grocery stores, restaurants, and big box stores. These businesses represent many of the most significant energy users in the country. Our rapidly growing consulting group has led to the development of this new position, with a need to systematically manage the business and set in place the organizational structure to manage our aggressive growth plans.
During the last year our practice saved enough energy to prevent the burning of 20 million pounds of coal. We believe that is just a beginning.
About the Position:
The Strategic Business Manager position requires an experienced, versatile consultant to work closely with the Director of Commercial-Retail to grow and manage the business.
The Strategic Business Manager's responsibilities and tasks will range from the highly strategic investigations of new growth opportunities to tactical administrative management of key processes. The successful candidate must be able to maneuver quickly between big picture design and implementation and coordination details. This position requires excellent planning, budgeting and people skills. Examples include:
- Managing the consolidation of multiple budgets, timelines and energy savings goals to provide quarterly and annual updates
- Creating an ongoing system for workload management
- Assisting in the analysis of sales goals and facilitating the annual sales goal setting process
- Research and investigation of new markets
- Management of sector metrics including profitability and review and analysis of overhead charges
- Handling of ad hoc assignments such managing web site revamp, conference participation management, and follow-up of Director's activities
Responsibilities will include:
- Workload forecasting for a 50+ person consulting group
- Management of administrative budgets
- Year-end budget coordination and management
- Develop of budget trackers to assure compliance with budgets
- Develop sector wide statistics and a business scorecard
- Coordinate hires, seating, etc.
- Coordination of sector activities such as evaluations
- Sales goal setting
- Timecard management
- Conference attendance coordination
- Investigate new and markets
- Develop business cases:
- Large clients
- New energy efficiency programs
- Support Sr. Program Managers in the design of new programs
Abilities:
- Quick to assimilate information in order to anticipate and respond to situations
- High strategic business sense and demonstrated experience in making decisions within a strategic context
- Outstanding analytical skills with high proficiency in Excel
- Strong writing capabilities
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Poise and discretion required to work with senior executives
- Solid team player
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have three or more years experience in contract and project management, project development and implementation in a consulting environment. The right person should possess the ability to build collaborative business relationships, both internally and externally.
