PennFuture enforces environmental laws and advocates for the transformation of public policy, public opinion and the marketplace to restore and protect the environment and safeguard public health. The Philadelphia Inquirer has called PennFuture "the state's leading environmental advocacy group." Our attorneys represent our members and other groups in matters regarding air, water, energy, mining, agriculture, and other issues.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a staff attorney for our Pittsburgh office.
Specific duties will include:
- Researching, developing, and handling all aspects of litigation cases before courts and administrative tribunals.
- Researching and preparing comments on proposed agency rules, policies, guidance documents, and permits or other authorizations.
- Preparing and submitting Freedom of Information Act and Right to Know Law requests for agency records.
- Providing legal advice to clients.
Substantive areas will include:
- Marcellus Shale
- Air
- Alternative Energy
Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have litigation experience, excellent written and oral communications skills, and knowledge of Pennsylvania and federal environmental laws. The ideal candidate has a passion for key issues of the organization, strong abilities to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, and a proven track record of success. Current Pennsylvania Bar admission is required.
Compensation: Salary and benefits package is competitive for public interest organizations and will depend on experience. This is a full-time position.
