The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) seeks a new full time Staff Attorney. Founded in 1969, ELI is a leading independent research and education center that works to improve environmental law, policy, and management worldwide. The Staff Attorney will join senior attorneys, policy analysts, and scientists in ELI's Research and Policy Division in developing innovative, effective approaches to the key environmental problems facing society today. ELI staff and senior attorneys work on a broad array of issues, including biodiversity protection, urban sprawl, brownfields, groundwater protection, mining, land stewardship, pollution prevention, indoor environmental quality, access to genetic resources, energy, and environmental justice. The Staff Attorney will have the opportunity to work with NGO partners in states and localities in the United States, as well as in Latin America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. The Staff Attorney will play an important role in ELI's domestic and global environmental protection initiatives, its campaigns to strengthen legal frameworks, and its efforts to build citizen and judicial environmental capacity.
Education: Master (MA, MSW, etc.)
Languages: English
Additional Qualifications:
Applicants should have superior research, analytical, and communication skills, as well as a top academic record. Practical legal and policy experience, especially in the environmental field, is desirable. Fluency in Spanish, French, or other languages is helpful.
Salary: Approximately $35,000
