Position Overview
Reporting to the Head of Controlling, you will be responsible for financial controlling and reporting for the Americas and to the parent company in Bonn, Germany.
In this role you will forge partnerships with the production controlling teams, the finance and accounting teams, purchasing and others to ensure effective and timely internal controls, financial forecasting, materials/inventory validation, financial reporting, etc.
As a key member of the controlling team you will drive understanding and awareness of the financial impact of line decisions, manage or develop financial controls and forecasting tools.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting for the manufacturing group of SolarWorld Americas.
- Strong emphasis on financial analyses and development of analytical tools.
- Ability to consolidate data from multiple sources into a cohesive and comprehensive analytic.
- Develop guidelines and procedures for activities such as budget administration, forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
- Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by Head of Controlling, local and corporate management teams.
- Analyze the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed.
- Advise management on short-term and long-term financial performance and objectives.
- Monitor financial activities and details, such as reserve levels and operational results.
- Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of experience, knowledge, and skills:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Preference will be given to those who possess an MBA and/or CPA certification.
- No less than 5 (10 preferred) years of recent, relevant experience. (Manufacturing experience preferred by not required)
- The ideal candidate will have an interest in financial statement forecast modeling and researching IFRS/GAAP for correct solutions to issues that arise.
- Must possess strong knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Demonstrable success developing and managing productive relationships within in private firm, manufacturing production environment, other with other peers in finance, accounting, and purchasing.
- Must understand how to effectively leverage relationships in achieving key goals and deadlines.
- Advanced computer skills are required including familiarity with windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook). Additional preference given for familiarity with manufacturing or ERP systems and data entry and/or collection from such systems (e.g., Navision, SAP, Oracle).
- Must be able to work independently as well as thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment.
- Strong desire to bring best practices to the team, share your knowledge and expertise and enable your team members' mutual success as the organization continues to grow.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
