Blue Oak Energy, Inc. is a commercial and utility-scale solar electric project firm based in Northern California.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver intelligent solutions that ensure quality project delivery. You will be a vital member in solving complex design, construction and operational issues with a maintained focus on customer satisfaction.
Reports to: VP of Engineering / VP of Project Management
Responsibilities:
- Manage overall project income and expenses with the goal of delivering job profits at or above expectations.
- Engage with the customer as the primary contact person to Blue Oak Energy and successfully build trust and respect in a symbiotic relationship.
- Participate in the design process through plan-check and permit submission.
- Drive weekly project management meetings to effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Define complicated schedules and budget to meet contract requirements; develop project plans and adjust project timelines throughout the project lifecycle; manage people and materials to complete jobs on schedule to maximize profitability.
- Coordinate the staging and construction of multiple projects simultaneously.
- Negotiate EPC and subcontractor contracts with the Construction and Engineering Management teams as required.
- Administer the activities of relevant project superintendents, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Monitor all safety issues related to a project.
- Maintain key project financial and related data in the accounting/project management system including:
a. Purchase orders
b. Estimates
c. Contract values
d. Status projects on a monthly basis; including forecast, earned value, performance indices, and schedule.
e. Update important dates on projects; start/stop estimates and actual, and
f. Percent complete values. - Manage full responsibility for customer invoicing and payment.
- Represent Blue Oak Energy internally and externally as a Professional, Responsible and Collaborative team member.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; construction management or engineering preferred. PMP Certification preferred, but not required.
- Minimum 5 years of Solar PV construction and project management experience required.
- Advanced knowledge of safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations.
- Experience with Timberline or another Project Management software system is essential.
- The ability to create and manage a schedule and budget to required margins.
- Advanced knowledge or experience w/ multi-state permitting regulations.
- High level of experience managing vendor and client payment terms to achieve positive cash flow.
- Understanding of financial models and management of budgeting cash flow.
- Advanced understanding of subcontractor hiring process with the ability to manage company protocols and ensure that only the best and most ethical subcontractors are used at all times.
- Contract negotiation / mediation.
- Experience with design / build contracts from ground up that result in profitable construction projects.
- Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information regarding plan layouts, material deliveries and jobsite productivity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly present ideas verbally and in writing. Must have experience communicating effectively with all levels of staff with the company.
- Proficiency in MS Office Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Travel is required up to 50% of the time; extensive at times, for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, or off-site personnel.
