The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is a Washington, DC based national trade association of solar energy manufacturers, dealers, distributors, contractors, installers, architects, consultants, and marketers, seeking to expand the use of solar technologies in the global marketplace, is seeking an unpaid intern to support their analytical and policy work in Washington, DC.
Specific duties and responsibilities of this position will include:
- Researching, analyzing, and summarizing existing work on the public benefits of renewable energy, from environmental, public health, and electrical system perspectives.
- Providing administrative support to a series of meetings and ongoing research aimed at developing a public policy decision tool designed to interactively quantify these values in the context of specific policy proposals.
- Assisting in the tracking of emerging state and federal legislation that could impact the solar industry.
- Undertaking special projects, as assigned.
The position will afford the qualified intern an opportunity to interact at a high level with industry and NGO representatives from across the clean energy spectrum, and to participate "from the inside" as policies are made in the capitol and among the states.
Requirements:
BA/BS with experience in quantitative sciences, public policy or human dimensions, environmental economics and statistics. Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills. Hill experience a plus. Experienced with spreadsheet programs (preferably Excel) and modern office programs.
Commitment: Minimum 20 hours per week / 6 months.
Compensation: Possibility of paid position after initial six-month commitment.
