Founded in 2009, SunSystem technology Commissions and maintains over 100 MW of commercial solar installations all over the country, with the primary focus in California. ~ 

Position Overview 

SunSystem Technology is seeking candidates for the positon of Solar Commercial IT Technician in Fair Oaks, California. Upon hiring, the employee will be enrolled in SunSystem Technology Training and a probationary period of 6 months. We will supply a company vehicle and a company computer for work. 

Responsibilities 

  • In a teams of two: conduction and document visual, mechanical, electrical, safety, and communication inspections of commercial solar energy facilities
  • Report all findings during commissioning, maintenance service work, and emergency responses
  • Installing/repairing monitoring and communication equipment
  • Establishing site networks and remote access and maintaining software and firmware upgrades, and licensing
  • Travel up to 50% of the time
  • Respond to emergency situations on site
  • Overseeing contractors on site
  • Reporting all findings to management in a professional and timely manner
  • Operate company vehicles
  • Using electrical test and analysis equipment out in the field
  • Remote monitoring and reporting using online web monitoring portals
  • Implementing corrective action plans and any required repair work onsite 
  • Implementing Preventative Maintenance tasks and compiling and submitting final reports

Qualifications 

Position Requirements: 

  • Either a degree in IT technology (Associates or better) or four years of IT networking experience.
  • Basic knowledge of IT theory, networking knowledge, communication equipment, and updating equipment and software
  • Configuring IP address, Assigning ModBus IDs, IP protocol, pull data from data loggers, and firmware updating
  • The ability to diagnose, trouble shoot, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and communication failures in the field
  • Installing and setting up new monitoring and communication equipment
  • Competence in collecting, processing, analyzing, and reporting real time data to clients, technical writing ability is preferred
  • Extensive familiarity with using Microsoft Suite of Programs
  • The ability to travel for a week or two at a time
  • The ability to be dispatched short notice for an undetermined amount of time
  • The physical ability to lift over 50 lbs and the ability to work outside in extreme temperature conditions
  • Comfort and familiarity with working at heights and utilizing the proper safety equipment
  • A valid driver's license and US residency
  • Any pertinent certifications and licenses will receive preferential treatment 

Compensation: Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. Once the six-month probationary period and training is complete, the option to enroll in the company health plan will be made available.
