Position Overview

The Solar and Weatherization Installer I is part of the Solar installation and Weatherization team, under supervision of the Crew Lead and reporting to Operations Manager. Solar experience is a must and a background in general construction or weatherization programs is preferred. Travel and overnight stays will be necessary on frequent occasion.

Schedule: Full-time, Mon-Fri, 7am-4pm (hours will vary).

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Successfully complete required training (per Weatherization Specialist Training Plan) before beginning work and all other training as stated in the Weatherization Specialist Training Plan as trained by the company
  • Successfully complete solar on-the-job-training as needed to comply with quality, safety and company culture standards
  • Participate in the installation of the roof portion of the PV system, including, but not limited to: Layout and assembly of solar modules/array, mounting hardware, and electrical equipment
  • Participate in the installation of weatherization measures as per the LIWP Farmworker Program guidelines, and as trained. Measures include, but are not limited to: lighting and small fixture replacement, energy measure installation, weather-stripping, water heater blankets, small appliances, water-saving measures installation, ceiling fans
  • Document completion of finished jobs and upload roof photos to customers folder
  • Maintain a clean job site
  • Communicate job status to Crew Lead to assure the successful completion of all jobs when on site
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to provide the perfect experience throughout the process
  • Attend safety meetings once a week
  • Additional duties required as needed


  • Minimum 1-year roofing experience; including metal, concrete tile, clay tile, comp, shingle, or wood shake
  • Ability to work in challenging environments (hot sun, cold, wind, tight spaces, etc.)
  • Capable of standing for long stretches of time and working at heights (on rooftops, climb ladders and stairs)
  • Ability to safely handle tools and materials commonly found in the construction and solar industries, such as: ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
  • Weatherization experience preferred, but not required
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work, including but not limited to peers and customers
  • Ability to operate a computer and smart phone for communication and uploading
  • Current Driver’s license, and clean drivers abstract


  • Clean driving and background record
  • Valid CA Driver's License
  • Travel will be required at times
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb, crawl, push, pull, reach, sit, stand, climb ladders, and work with various tools and equipment
  • Must be able to operate a pallet jack and forklift
  • Have to ability to listen, understand, and communicate in writing and verbally
  • The employee will frequently be required to lift objects up to 75 pounds
