Position Overview:
The Energy Storage Software Engineer will develop and integrate software for utility scale energy storage applications. This engineer will be responsible for the software that performs main system control functions and that drives the product user interface. This individual will work closely with the Coda engineering team and outside vendors to successfully set product requirements and develop them into software models and code for stationary energy storage products intended for peak shaving, renewable energy integration, frequency regulation, etc.
This position is within the Coda Energy division of Coda Holdings which is focused on the development of container based energy storage systems. The Energy Storage Software Engineer will report to the Director of Utility Energy Storage Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Develop software architecture
- Design and code embedded software modules
- Establish standard/common software modules
- Write software requirements specifications and statements of work
- Oversee the activity of vendors
- Integrate CAN communication architecture
- Perform or support as required, the integration of software modules including application and low level software
- Test software functions, components, and features/applications
- Coordinate with subsystem design teams throughout integration and ready software for final delivery
- Communicate project status, analysis, and test results to design engineers and management
Qualifications:
- BS in Computer or Electrical Engineering from a ABET accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years experience as software engineer or computer programmer, preferably in energy storage or another green energy industry such as solar or wind farms
- Fluency in Java, C/C++ and Matlab/Simulink
- Strong understanding of object oriented software design
- Familiarity with RTUs, IEDs and communication protocols such as DNP3 and IEC 61850
- Experience with microcontroller/microprocessor based peripherals, TCP/IP protocols, real time operating systems, Linux, and distributed/embedded computer architectures
- Strong interest in battery systems
- Excellent communications skills and team collaboration
- Demonstrated ability to manage difficult projects within tight time constraints
