Position Overview:
Boulder Wind Power is currently seeking an entry-level engineer with significant software development experience to compliment the company's design and business development efforts. We are looking for a candidate with a combination of strong engineering potential and experience in building engineering software, especially with MATLAB.
This individual will be responsible for upgrading and documenting some of our custom analysis software tools. The individual must be able to demonstrate a working enginboulderwindpower.comeering knowledge base beyond software design and development. In particular, experience with FE or CFD analysis is a plus, to support these areas when possible.
Successful candidates must be ‘hands-on' and be willing to work in an interactive, aggressive technical environment. The individual will be expected to adapt quickly to the challenges of clean-sheet engineering, and work closely with the entire technical organization in a collaborative manner on cross-functional tasks.
Responsibilities:
Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and support custom engineering software development.
- Document our engineeboulderwindpower.comring software tools.
- Contribute to the engineering team as a whole.
- Contribute to the business development team as an engineering liaison and configuration control engineer.
- Perform engineering and design tasks as needed.
- Participate in design process including:
- meeting new product introduction process deliverables
- design reviews
- optimization of cost / performance of components and subsystems
- identifying technical risks
- developing risk mitigation strategies and plans
Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications and attributes:
- Undergraduate engineering or science degree in disciplines relevant to mechanical / electrical / power systems engineering
- Demonstrable engineering or science skills, intuition, and knowledge
- At least 2 years of development experience with MATLAB and the associated environments
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, particularly relating to technical reporting and documentation

- Advanced degrees in relevant fields of study
- Experience with engineering analysis utilizing FE or CFD
- Specific experience relating to methods of engineering optimization
- Experience with multiple scripting/programming languages
- Experience with and/or an understanding of wind turbine design practice
- Experience in developing and leading model validation programs
- Experience with wind turbine manufacturing in a modeling and/or data analysis role
- Experience with and understanding of wind turbine standards and/or certification
