Description
Piper Jaffray is a client-focused securities firm dedicated to delivering superior financial advice, investment products and transaction execution within targeted sectors of the financial services marketplace. We serve middle-market companies, government, non-profit entities, and institutional and private investors.
Support all members of the Socially Responsible Investment team with the following activities in an efficient and productive manner:
Social Screening
-Research public companies' corporate social responsibility and environmental practices
-Review social questionnaire for clients and draft their Social Policy Statement
-Review portfolio managers' individual securities holdings to assess if they are compliant with the clients' social values
-Communicate with portfolio managers on which securities can be purchased or not in the clients' portfolio based on their social values
-Keep current on social research issues
-Maintain and enhance the social research database
-Explain to clients the details of their specific social screening issues
-Coordinate with all social research database vendors on subscriptions
-Monitor and recommend alternate research sources or databases
Marketing
-Update and maintain presentations for group
-Compile, organize and maintain relevant news articles for issues relating to SRI, philanthropic services and shareholder advocacy (including drafting emails to accompany any forwarded article and dealing with compliance to ensure emails and articles are approved for distribution)
-Assist in developing and maintaining other marketing materials for the team (website, brochures, new social literature, etc.)
-Help coordinate production of quarterly newsletter (including drafting updates on shareholder action and company profiles)

-High problem solving aptitude
Preferable
-Work experience in socially responsible investing or with social, non-profit, or philanthropic organizations
-Research experience
