Position Overview:
Mission: To ensure proper operation of plant and production of quality products by maintaining all standard operating parameters within specifications to achieve Plant production goals.
Responsibilities:
- To guarantee the production of ethanol and co-products in order to meet plant objectives.
- To participate in the development of production processes to optimize plant operations.
- Monitor process operating parameters, prioritizing changes to variables. Make multiple daily plant rounds checking equipment for possible problems. Recommend preventative maintenance or repair.
- Communicate with all appropriate parties. Troubleshoot processing problems and provide operators assistance as required
- Plan, direct and supervise crews daily work assignments. Provide feedback continually on positive and negative employee performance and safety issues
- Communicate shift change information with shift supervisors. Participate in meetings and planning sessions
- To control the application of safety and health policies, measure, detect variances and take appropriate corrective measures.
Qualifications:
Technical Competencies:
- Production Planning Skills
- Understand basic chemistry involved in ethanol production, water and wastewater analysis, and wet laboratory functions
- Troubleshoot complex inter-related processes using a distributed control system and statistical process control
- Computer Skills related to normal business use, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, company specific programs (Lotus Notes, Purchasing application, procedure application, NOC application), and additional skills in data management
- Process control including software and hardware configuration and loop controls
- Fluid dynamics and control related to ethanol industry
- Heat transfer equipment operation and performance i.e.; Shell and Tube, Plate and Frame H/Xs
- Troubleshooting of rotating equipment, efficiency and operation i.e.; pumps and compressors
Education/Experience:
Prior chemical processing, grain handling and processing experience preferred. Bachelors degree in Engineering required.
Additional Requirements:
Prior experience managing people including giving and receiving feedback, writing objective performance evaluations, and other related knowledge is helpful. Ability to train others in technical applications is required.
