Position Overview
AWS Truepower is currently seeking a Senior Wind Energy Analyst to assist with wind energy project planning, to assess operational project performance, to analyze meteorological data for wind resource assessment, and to run wind energy models in support of the Consulting Services team.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be involved in both green-field development and operational plant reviews which will include: acquiring, managing and analyzing data, using spatial analysis to identify potential wind farm locations and design turbine layouts, and assessing the energy and availability of operational wind projects.
- The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate advanced database management skills, have advanced statistical knowledge, mentor junior staff and lead company quality-control standards, and be able to work with other meteorological and modeling staff to meet deadlines.
- The candidate will need to work in a cross-department matrix environment, work effectively with colleagues, meet deadlines, perform critical analyses of sensitive data, assess and validate results, work on several projects simultaneously and communicate effectively.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in environmental studies, atmospheric sciences, engineering, or related field required.
- Direct experience in the wind industry and familiarity with wind energy project development are required.
- Experience with Openwind and Windographer is required. Background in meteorological data analysis, FORTRAN and/or other computer programming languages, Microsoft Excel, and statistics/graphical software packages such as R, Matlab, GEMPAK, and ArcGIS is also preferred.
- More than 10 years relevant experience in wind energy is preferred, a minimum of 5 years is required.
- In addition, the candidate must be detail-oriented and possess good organization and time management skills.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
