Description
Akermin, Inc. is a biocatalysis company with a unique approach to enzyme immobilization and stabilization. This core technology enables the company to engineer customized enzyme catalyst structures to serve a wide range of industries and markets. Its primary focus is developing a greenhouse gas capture technology for large fixed base industrial facilities such as coal-burning power plants. It is also commercializing a biofuel cell prototype for low power applications.
Position Overview:
This position is a leadership role in the chemistry area of designing, planning, leading and conducting of research trials on biofuel cells and fuel cell systems.
Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibilities are in the area of fuel cell catalyst and catalyst layer development, fuel cell system design, and electrochemical evaluation of fuel cell electrodes.
- The applicant must possess the ability to creatively find solutions to complex problems that may arise in multifaceted projects, as well as manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Additional responsibilities include proper collection of data, communicating procedures/findings via verbal and written reports and helping to establish research initiatives and objectives as a part of a research and development team.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field and 3+ years industrial laboratory or equivalent
- Experience in designing and characterizing polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells and fuel cell systems highly desired
- Experience in design and development fuel cell catalysts and catalyst layers highly desired
- Project management experience highly desired
- Supervisory experience desired
- Strong analytical capabilities, as well as written and verbal communication skills required
- Must have ability to work in fast-paced, start-up company environment; producing technical results for key company objectives
