By serving as an expert advisor, project
consultant and funder we explore cutting-edge technologies and support
innovative project financing models to expand the implementation, replication
and expansion of on-site renewable energy projects.
The
Renewable Energy Group (REG) focuses on increasing the amount of small-scale
renewable energy generation being installed in the service areas of Pacific Northwest
public utilities, as well as providing renewable energy expertise to a wide
variety of BEF clients. We bring a
wealth of expertise in small-scale, community-based and commercial-scale
renewable energy project development to every partner relationship, including
involvement in more than 225 photovoltaic solar installations throughout the
country.
Position Overview
The Senior Project
Manager is a specialist in renewable energy systems and leads the project
management activities for the REG program. The Senior Project Manager designs
and executes plans and activities that directly support project implementation.
This position is responsible for providing renewable energy system design
oversight and working with contractors, staff and stakeholders to effectively
oversee and advance a broad range of renewable energy projects and partnerships. The Senior Project Manager offers innovation and
creative thinking in advancing renewable energy in the Pacific Northwest.
Responsibilities
Program Operations:
- Identify, research, analyze and
evaluate potential new renewable energy projects and make recommendations
to executive staff - Develop comprehensive implementation
plans to ensure the continued effectiveness and success of renewable
project construction - Develop and leverage partnerships with
utilities, NGOs, corporations, funders and others to create new approaches
and solutions to develop and install renewable energy systems - Manage all aspects of renewable energy
project implementation - Evaluate
and compile comprehensive written reports on the success or failures of
various renewable energy initiatives for purposes of broad dissemination - Provide
technical expertise to other BEF staff and programs - Utilize
cross-functional services, such as marketing, contracts and administration
in an effective manner
Leadership
- Work with REG staff to develop and
execute the vision for the Renewable Energy Program - Act as an ambassador for BEF and REG,
representing the company and program to a wide variety of external audiences - Foster and maintain positive
relationships with a variety of constituents, including funders, grantees,
utilities, contractors and industry leaders - Provide guidance to other REG Project
Managers
Qualifications
Prerequisite Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years in the renewable
energy field including extensive program and/or project management
experience (required) - Bachelor’s degree in engineering,
business or related field (required) - Significant experience designing and
constructing electrical systems (preferred) - Knowledge of NFPA 70: NEC and other
electrical code standards (preferred) - Experience designing photovoltaic
systems (preferred) - Experience and proficiency using
computer aided design software for construction project design and
documentation (preferred)
Prerequisite Skills:
- Self motivated with an entrepreneurial
spirit, able to lead projects and people and inspire others in the
renewable energy community - Ability to demonstrate and provide
examples of continuous personal development and improvement in each of the
essential functions listed above - Ability to lead a team of project
managers and/or contractors to complete multiple concurrent projects on
time and on budget - Demonstrated success creating and
leading complex projects - Quantitative analytical skills in the
engineering or renewable energy field - Ability to think strategically
about—and participate in—advancing the long-term goals and development of
the program - Excellent construction documentation
skills - Excellent interpersonal skills and the
ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff,
funders, utility contractors and key clients and stakeholders - Computer tech and web savvy and
ability to learn quickly - Passion for the REG mission
