Rypos, Inc. is the clean air technology leader in the design and manufacturing of active exhaust control systems for the reduction of harmful emissions from diesel engines. Our flexible and scalable designs utilize patented electrical regeneration strategy and technology, and have applications in on-road, off-road, stationary generator and small auxiliary power unit, and marine markets.
Position Overview:
Unique opportunity to work with a clean air technology company that uses cutting edge technology to reduce diesel exhaust emissions. In this hands-on role, the Senior Project Engineer will work closely with regulatory agencies and our top-notch scientists and engineers to take new products from earliest concepts to government-approved fielded systems.
This role will also be responsible for managing product development and emissions certification projects, customer support and field support. This role will also be the primary point of contact with environmental regulatory agencies to ensure up-to-date emissions certifications.
Responsibilities:
- Create new product designs based on discussions with customers regarding their requirements for diesel exhaust treatment devices.
- Provide technical guidance, direction and support to product development activities.
- Lead the development of product specifications, installation and operating manuals; ensure that the highest quality product specifications and standards are used.
- Conduct ongoing design review. Develop action plans and field service bulletins to implement product enhancements.
- Evaluate new product ideas and development initiatives for viability and make recommendations for new product concepts, product and process enhancements as part of our continuous quality improvement.
- Draft, revise, and maintain CARB and EPA regulatory emissions verification plans.
- Lead company efforts to create winning technical solutions that respond effectively to RFP's.
- Schedule and track engineering resources for successful project completion.
- Manage efforts to track performance of fielded products.
- Present new product ideas and plans to the Management Team; advise of any customer and distributor issues.
- Participate in industry associations, conferences and working groups, representing the Company's interests.
- Participate and contribute to the budgeting process.
- Other responsibilities as required, and as business needs demand.
Qualifications:
- BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Chemistry.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in product development, preferably in the field of diesel engine or diesel accessory manufacturing.
- Demonstrated success in working closely with customers to understand their requirements and to jointly create responsive new products.
- Understanding of EPA and CARB certification guidelines.
- Extensive experience with project planning tools, such as Microsoft Project, and management techniques.
- Strong technical writing and oral communication skills, with proven ability to write technical proposals, demonstrate products, and develop and deliver presentations.
- Experience developing products under a formal quality management system. ISO 9001 desirable.
- Detail-oriented self-starter and team player with excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 10%.
- Ability to work well in a small team environment with all levels of management and staff.
