Position Overview:

This position is an outstanding opportunity for a sharp, motivated leader to demonstrate strategic thinking, program development and project management skills, deepen knowledge across a wide range of sustainability issues, and craft a large, high-profile and well-regarded flagship event.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Senior Conference Manager will lead Net Impact's efforts to construct and deliver an excellent, inspiring and educational event for 2,500 attendees at the annual Net Impact Conference. The conference is Net Impact's cornerstone event and plays a major role in Net Impact's overall financial, branding, and member experience. This position will coordinate successful efforts by the logistics, marketing, and sponsorship teams, and lead a small content team that designs and executes 100 sessions featuring 300+ expert speakers.

The Senior Conference Manager will represent Net Impact externally, interacting with prominent experts from the corporate responsibility, social impact, and sustainability fields.

Responsibilities:

• Lead multi-departmental team through a detailed, and at times intense, conference planning process
• Generate innovative and creative ideas to keep the Net Impact conference fresh, world class, and unique
• Meet key event goals, including financial, attendee and speaker metrics
• Manage the high-level conference workplan, and the conference content workplan in detail, ensuring smooth and successful execution of an excellent event for attendees and speakers
• Lead the design of content strategy that includes the range of topics of interest to attendees, informed by attendee feedback and topical research
• Effectively engage experts, members, and friends of Net Impact to source sessions, topics and speakers externally
• Research, identify, and outreach to speakers at the keynote, featured and panel level
• Collaborate with internal and external conference logistics team and vendors to ensure smooth event processes and speaker / attendee experiences
• Keep organizational leadership up-to-date on key priorities and manage Executive and Deputy Director to assist on project and priorities when necessary

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or related Master's degree a plus
• 5-6 years professional work experience
• Knowledge of sustainability issues, and intellectual curiosity and passion for learning more
• High standards for excellence and exceptional attention to detail
• Experience leading a collaborative team and managing complex projects
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
• Proven strong writing and editing skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively
• Flexibility and a sense of humor
