Position Overview:

HNTB is looking for a senior level LEED Accredited Professional (Planner, Engineer, Architect, or Construction related professional) to support the USACE Norfolk District in managing and implementing the BRAC 2005 MILCON LEED program. Primary duties will include the organization, coordination, documentation, and submission of the materials necessary to demonstrate LEED compliance to the US Green Buildings Council and Green Building Certification Institute.

Responsibilities: 

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical guidance to ensure all LEED credit templates and back up documentation submittals are accurate and complete
  • Participating in early LEED project planning at the design submittal, construction submittal or combined design/construction submittal phases
  • Attending planning and design charrettes to represent LEED matters
  • Supporting to the District in the management, review, and validation of the sustainable design process
  • Coordinating, communicating, and integrating activities from on-site LEED AP individuals administering the LEED program at Ft. Lee and Ft. Eustis
  • Helping the District identify LEED points that help the installation save energy costs, improve worker productivity, reduce O&M costs, or enhances mission support
  • Assisting with LEED updates to District design guides, NEPA documents, and other related programs, planning reports and project development documents
  • Ensuring that LEED documentation and other requirements are kept up-to-date
  • Coordinating training and/or facilitation of sustainable design training meetings for District personnel 
  • Developing documentation/records management for LEED training in accordance with USACE requirements
  • Providing briefings and/or informal sustainable design training as needed 
  • Preparing press releases and/or periodic newsletters for the local and other media as needed

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

  • LEED Accredited Professional
  • Prior experience in the role of LEED Team Administrator on a project seeking LEED certification with GBCI using the LEED online process
  • Experience with the principles of sustainable design and construction and participation in sustainable design charrettes and managing the LEED process for multiple projects 
  • Experience reviewing construction documentation, contractor submittals and design build specifications and drawings for compliance with LEED credit requirements
  • Experience coordinating or facilitating LEED training for multiple discipline professional groups 
  • Must have the ability to effectively support and interface with senior government staff - the selected candidate will work onsite at the Norfolk District Corps of Engineers facility in Norfolk, VA
  • Bachelor's degree with 15+ years experience in architecture, engineering, planning or related field 
  • Experience supervising and mentoring younger staff 
  • Must have the ability to meet AR 380-19 and Installation ADP Level II requirements

Certification Required: RLA, RA, PE registration or AICP, CEP certification is required.
