Position Overview

OTIE is currently looking for an experienced Senior Hydrogeologist to be a technical lead on large and complex environmental sites involving soil and groundwater remediation in California and nationwide.

We are seeking a seasoned scientist that has experience working in various industries, both private and public sector to join the team in our Ventura, CA office. 

Responsibilities 

  • Drawing on your scientific knowledge and expertise you will support the design, implementation and optimization of OTIE's environmental remediation projects.
  • As Senior Hydrogeologist, you will also be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of scientists on large government contracts involving environmental remediation.
  • This position will interact with all levels of internal and external stakeholders and manage communication with important local, state and federal agencies while acting as a technical consultant and subject matter expert with our clients. 

Qualifications  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related degree in the area of Geosciences required, Master's degree preferred.
  • And a minimum of 10 years work experience as a Hydrogeologist (or equivalent position in title, scope and responsibility), with broad experience in CERCLA and RCRA.
  • And PG State certification preferably in CA required and/or the ability to become certified in the state of CA.
  • 5 years of direct management experience of junior and mid-level staff.
  • Able to articulate experience and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of groundwater, soil, and soil vapor characterization and remedial techniques and technologies.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate technical writing capabilities including providing writing samples.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including the various government agencies, clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and be customer focused with a strong desire to contribute to OTIE's mission and goals.
  • Strong understanding of environmental policies and current regulatory environment. 

Preferred candidates will possess the minimum requirements in addition to having the following: 

  • Strong and diverse scientific experience and knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of environmental remediation as it pertains to various contaminants, investigative methods, and remedial approaches.
  • Prior work experience in environmental consulting for both private and public sector.
  • Self-direction and a strong desire to contribute and lead by example.
  • Ability to mentor and coach more junior staff.
  • Desire for continued learning and willingness to share knowledge in order to advance OTIE's mission.
