Description
We are a new Bay Area company building a plug-in hybrid drivetrain automobile. Founded by a team of impressive entrepreneurs and executives, we have experience launching five very successful companies and products, including an existing major auto brand. Unlike other PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) efforts, we have a strong, proven team and are pursuing an ambitious, but realistic goal of mass production of fuel-efficient vehicles that are practical for everyday use. We have the technology to make cars cleaner, more efficient, and affordable, plus the business model to allow us to launch our product soon. We are looking for an exceptional engineer to spearhead this effort; time is of the essence, so if this sounds like something you're interested in, please read on.
Responsibilities
We have an immediate need for an exceptional Senior Engineer to oversee the PHEV drivetrain development effort. This person will coordinate the activity of third parties as well as lead in-house efforts to implement the results in a test mule. This role is absolutely integral to the success of our PHEV. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking the lead in making assessments of different drivetrain architectures, component technologies, and component suppliers. You must have experience designing power electronics circuitry, be willing to get your hands dirty, and be able to build and oversee a team effort.
More specifically, you will:
- Generate product and test specifications
- Handle the development of battery systems and battery management/monitoring
- Evaluate electric motor and generator technologies as well as internal combustion engines and technologies
- Manage the integration of major components - power electronics, batteries, motors/generators, internal combustion engine - into a PHEV drivetrain architecture
- Perform simulation and analyses of electric drive components and subsystems
- Write and evaluate technical reports and proposals
- Provide guidance on economic and production issues related to the PHEV drivetrain - Plan and perform testing, development and calibration in a dynamometer facility
