Senior Electrical Engineer

ZeroBase Energy, LLC is a Washington DC based startup company focused on developing products that easily combine traditional and renewable energy components with advanced power management systems, as well as integrating newly emerging energy technologies for deployment globally.

Position Overview:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will direct development of the power management systems for a new line of clean energy products. The position will report to the Chief Technology Officer and support product development, sales and marketing.

Responsibilities:

• Develop the specifications for power management systems based on expressed customer needs.
• Provide assessments of supplier technologies and capabilities.
• Provide analysis of emerging technologies and trends in the clean energy and smart grid spaces.
• Organize and lead external suppliers and vendors in the development of new power management solutions.
• Represent our technology to customers, respond to customer questions, and assist in the development of custom solutions.
• Assist the sales team in the specification and quoting custom solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, or Power Systems Engineering OR high school diploma/GED and a minimum 8 years industry experience.
• Minimum 8 years experience in electric power industry with OR 5 years experience in electric power industry with advanced degree.
• Must have ability and availability to travel (10-25%).

Demonstrated experience in one of more of the following:

• Technical performance analysis of electric power systems.
• Economic analysis of power system operations.
• Development of new renewable energy products or technologies.
• Feasibility / integration analysis of renewable assets into power systems.

Desired Characteristics:

• In depth knowledge of both AC and DC systems design for both the US and International market.
• In depth knowledge of distributed systems, remote power, and generator integration.
• Experience with power-flow, stability, and transient analysis.
• Ability to perform engineering analysis and design, and to develop engineering solutions in a team environment, and to provide technical consulting services to customers
• Strong written and oral communication skills and experience in engineering sales or a supporting role in sales and marketing.
• Experience working in an R&D, skunk-works, or new product development environment developing requirements, specifications and prototypes for new product concepts.
• Experience applying for and securing grants to fund research and/or development projects.
• Experience with deployed power in remote areas and harsh climates preferred, e.g. Military, Complex Disaster, First Responder capacities.
• Experience in some energy regulatory issues and energy policy (Federal, State, or Local) preferred, but not required.

Located in Washington DC, or surrounding area strongly preferred, but not required.
