Position Overview:

This position is located within the Control Systems Engineering group at Vigilent. You'll be a key contributor to our core technology team, developing the next generation of advanced control, optimization and diagnostics algorithms, which provide the artificial intelligence foundation of our enterprise energy management systems product lines.

Your role will focus on designing and implementing control, optimization and simulation technologies that are the basis for our proprietary control systems. You will be part of a tight-knit team of engineers and scientists working in a fast-paced environment, with an opportunity to make key contributions and inventions that advance the state of the art in energy management and dynamic cooling control.

You will have responsibility for design and implementation, with end-to-end responsibilities for developing and maintaining our technology base, including real-world testing of new algorithms and simulations in the field. You will be interfacing with Applications Engineering, Quality Assurance, Product Marketing and Product Management.

The position is based in our El Cerrito office, with some work from home possible. Reports to: Director, Control Systems Engineering

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and enhance control, optimization and diagnostics algorithms.
• Enhance and maintain a system simulator/emulator.
• Develop and maintain system models for simulation and testing of algorithms.
• Develop test cases and methodologies to evaluate new control, optimization and diagnostic algorithms with simulations and conduct testing in the field.
• Participate in all phases of the software development cycle.
• Documentation of system and software processes.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or Applied Mathematics, with an emphasis on Controls and Diagnostics.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering development of control systems.
• Strong background in developing control and diagnostics algorithms.
• Good, hands-on working knowledge of Matlab.
• Demonstrated experience developing and applying data mining and diagnostic technologies.

Skills:

• Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to work well with a team; values the project, company and co-workers. High energy and passion towards solving real-world issues related to energy management.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Desired:

• Experience creating or maintaining software algorithms or applications in a C++ development environment.
• Experience with HVAC system installation and /or building control systems.
