Navigant's Energy Efficiency Policy and Analysis practice, a sub-practice of Navigant's world-class Energy consulting practice, provides technical and market analysis related to the potential for new and emerging technologies to save energy. Additionally, Navigant's Energy Efficiency Policy and Analysis practice supports the development of energy efficiency standards for equipment through technical and market analysis. This includes examining the impacts of regulations on manufacturers and understanding the technical improvements, and associated costs, to meet higher performance levels.
Position Overview:
Navigant Consulting's Energy Practice is seeking candidates with a Bachelors or Masters Degree in an engineering or science discipline to join our Energy Efficiency consulting group. As members of our team, consultants work with clients involved in a wide range of energy-related activities, particularly in the field of energy efficiency. The successful candidate will support laboratory-based evaluation, investigation, and analysis of various appliance technologies, appliance energy test procedures, and laboratory test methods. Other project work may include market and technology assessments of advanced technologies, and support for R&D planning or technology transfer activities. Projects include involvement and interaction with government agencies, industry representatives, equipment manufacturers, trade organizations, and efficiency advocates.
Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities may include:
- Creating sophisticated cost modeling models for existing and advanced equipment designs.
- Developing testing methods to help characterize the energy use of various appliances
- Modeling the performance of advanced technologies
- Providing detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on energy-related activities
- Performing statistical and economic analyses; data collection; spreadsheet creation and management
- Assessing technologies and analyzing technology trends
- Testing the energy efficiency of various appliances
- Developing technology strategies for utilities, government, energy companies, and equipment suppliers.
- Building business plans (including new technology deployment and commercialization strategies)
- Preparing reports, presentations and other documents for clients
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in energy efficiency, laboratory testing, and advanced technologies
- Bachelors of Science in an Engineering or Science discipline, Masters preferred
- 1 to 5 years of relevant work experience
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Superior interpersonal skills
- High degree of self-confidence and determination
- Highly developed organizational and management skills
- Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness
- Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and slide presentation software
- Ability to travel and to work overtime hours as needed
