Position Overview: 

CEA is looking for a highly skilled and motivated professional for the position of Senior Associate - Philanthropic Services. The successful applicant will serve as an engagement manager, responsible for the day-to-day management of large and complex consulting engagements for clients, such as major philanthropic foundations, environmental NGOs and bi/multi-lateral agencies.  The work deals with complex issues and uses private sector tools and strategies in the service of the environment - including cap and trade systems, certification systems, conservation finance transactions, etc.  The work environment is informal, intensive, and will require travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Proposal development;
  • Problem structuring, including work planning, issues analysis, process planning, etc.;
  • Management of large, integrated consultant/client project teams;
  • Complex quantitative (financial and natural science) and qualitative analysis;
  • Management of client interactions; and
  • Internal research and knowledge development

Qualifications: 

The successful applicant will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • A deep commitment to the conservation-related mission of CEA;
  • At least 5 years experience as an associate with a business consultancy, investment bank, corporation or NGO organization; minimum of 2 years leading project teams;
  • Project and team management experience;
  • BA degree in a field requiring complex analytical/quantitative methods and skills; Master's degree preferred;
  • Experience in climate change, marine policy, fisheries reform, land preservation, sustainable agriculture, and/or air quality a plus; 
  • A history of involvement in analytically complex projects;
  • Strong Excel modeling skills;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multi-task; and
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with senior management.
