Founded in 1951 with a mission to save the Earth's biodiversity, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is the world's largest conservation organization.  With a budget of almost one billion dollars, TNC has grown to be one of the nation's top 15 charitable institutions (as measured by private funds raised).  TNC operates in more than 400 offices in 30 countries, focusing on innovative, public-private partnerships to achieve its mission. 

The Connecticut Chapter has protected more than 43,000 acres across the state, maintains 55 local nature preserves, and currently has approximately 21,000 members.  The "Campaign for Connecticut: Saving Our Last Great Places" is currently underway, with a focus on protecting five natural areas in Connecticut.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Senior Associate Director of Philanthropy (ADoP) for Fairfield County, Connecticut will be responsible for implementing the Conservancy's fundraising strategy in that region. 

This ADoP will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective major donors in Fairfield County and immediately surrounding areas.  Together with the Director of Philanthropy, the State Director, the Philanthropy Team, and other staff and volunteer leadership, the Associate Director of Philanthropy will develop annual plans and multi-year strategic objectives for major gift fundraising. 

The ADoP will manage a portfolio of at least 150 active major donors plus additional suspects, and create individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. 

Qualifications:

Working as an integral part of TNC Major Gift team, the ADoP position requires a commitment to TNC's mission, proven success in raising gifts of $100,000 and above, demonstrated success in raising dollars from corporations and foundations, sound fundraising judgment, experience in the use of planned giving tools and strategies and strong communication and organizational skills. 

The ADoP will travel extensively throughout Southern Connecticut, Westchester County, and New York City.  This position may require supervision of other fundraising professionals.

This position requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field AND 5-7 years of related work experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).  Major gifts fundraising experience also required.
