Position Overview
Join our expanding team of green building experts as a Green
Building Associate. We are a small private firm practicing green building
consulting to public and private sector clients. We seek an experienced
professional with commitment and enthusiasm in the area of green building and
sustainability. This position allows for a flexible schedule with some
telecommuting opportunities. The position will focus on California Green Building Code projects.
Responsibilities
Public-sector clients:
- Assist public sector clients in understanding the sustainable design & construction requirements applicable to particular projects using provided green building program format.
- Perform research tasks related to new and existing state laws related to energy efficiency, water efficiency, green building, and carbon reduction. Prepare technical letters using provided templates and forms.
- On-going management, creation, and update of green building program written material.
- Lead oral presentations and trainings related to green building requirements for large groups of participants.
- Participate in green building and energy policy development. Assist with local green building and energy ordinance administration related to fulfilling on State agency requirements.
- Perform quality control of green house gas, water efficiency, and energy efficiency data reporting.
- Review plans and specification on projects and provide comments on missing information compared to the green building requirements.
- Manage training events and provide oversight to junior level staff to coordinate an event.
Private-sector clients:
- Provide green building expertise to private sector clients working on building design projects.
- Facilitate the implementation of green building rating system certifications, verification programs, or codes including LEED, CHPS, or CALGreen.
- Create and manage task assignments for projects teams to implement a green building certification.
- Review plans and specification on projects and provide comments on missing information compared to the green building requirements.
- Review green building documentation for projects and provide comments on missing information compared to the submittal requirements.
- Manage and administer the green building application using the associated platform, such as LEED Online or CHPS Verified.
Other:
- Provide mentoring to junior level staff on the subject of green buildings and project management.
- Assist with business development tasks as needed.
- Individually lift up to 30 pounds.
Qualifications
Education
and Experience:
- LEED
Accredited Professional with at least 5 years of professional work experience
in the area of green building and sustainability. - ICC
CALGreen Inspector or willingness to attain certification shortly after hire. - Architecture,
engineering, or environmental studies degree or equivalent combinations of
technical training. - Working
knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and
specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to
discipline.

to develop and work within project schedules and timelines. - Ability
to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with
