Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant/Payroll Administrator will be responsible for accurately processing semi-monthly ADP payroll for approximately 150 employees in multiple states. S/he will create and generate invoices and apply cash receipts for clients. S/he will also prepare daily cash receipt reports and complete monthly bank reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
• Process, verify and reconcile all payroll data and fringe benefits;
• Prepare and reconcile monthly payroll allocations and entries;
• Ensure compliance with payroll retention policies and procedures;
• Perform monthly closing and prepare required journal entries and adjustments;
• Maintain Balance Sheet account schedules and analysis;
• Perform monthly financial statement review and variance analysis;
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules;
• Prepare audit analysis schedules and supporting documentation;
• Maintain Account Receivable ledgers, generate client invoicing, verify and process revenue receipts;
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations;
• Assist with annual audits and 990 preparations; and
• Provide additional financial/accounting schedules, analyses and special projects as required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required;
• 5-7 years of hands on experience in monthly financial reporting with responsibility for G/L maintenance and Financial Statement preparation;
• 3-5 years of recent and direct hands on ADP payroll experience required;
• In depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principals in a not-for-profit environment;
• Clear understanding of Balance Sheet, P/L and Cash Flow statements;
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Word and experience in Financial Accounting software packages); Solomon experience a plus;
• Ability to anticipate, troubleshoot, problem solve and create/implement systems that contribute to a smart working environment;
• Well organized and efficient with ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines;
• Strong analytical skills and careful attention to detail;
• Ability to identify and resolve fiscal problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully and work well in group problem solving situations;
• Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness; and
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.
