Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (WRV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, based in Boulder, Colorado, with a field office in Fort Collins. Our mission is to foster a community spirit of shared responsibility for the stewardship and restoration of public lands. WRV connects people with nature and promotes community-based involvement in the care of public lands. We engage volunteers in a wide variety of hands-on ecological restoration and other land stewardship activities. Position Overview:
Wildlands Restoration Volunteers seeks a seasonal Seed Collection Program Coordinator (SCPC). The SCPC's primary role is to manage and engage volunteers in WRV's seed collection program. Additionally, the SCPC will assists with outreach and marketing activities, provide logistical support for our trainings and events, and provide administrative support to our other professional staff and volunteers in the WRV Boulder office.
Responsibilities:
Duties include: Managing the WRV Seed Collection Program (1 small evening projects and 4 three-quarter day weekend projects), recruiting volunteers, project management, correspondence with volunteers; coordinating with Boulder County Parks and Open Space, and City of Boulder Staff; recording project stats, data entry; tabling at outreach events; managing groups; providing support for projects and training events; and more. WRV is a lean and highly effective organization. Everyone works together as a team, within a dynamic work environment, pitching in where needed to meet organizational needs.
Qualifications:
Knowledge and Skills Desired:
- Experience in natural resource management
- Experience in successful project management
- Ability to organize and prioritize
- Ability to juggle several tasks simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; Including speaking in front of groups
- Experience in marketing and community outreach helpful but not required
- Ability to work independently
- Working knowledge of office equipment
- Proficient with windows environment, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), databases, and comfort with technology
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
- College degree preferred but not required
- Strong teamwork skills - Specifically leading a couple small teams of volunteers simultaneously
- Botany and/or Seed Collection Experience preferred.

Self-motivated, flexible, energetic, enthusiastic, initiative, good interpersonal skills, professional, responsible, able to meet deadlines, detail oriented, willing to work evenings/weekends as needed, committed to public land stewardship, interest in volunteerism and service, and a good sense of humor.
Compensation: $11.50 to $13.50 per hour commensurate with experience. This is a 40 hour per week position, but other arrangements may be considered. Desired employment period is May 23 - November 14, 2011, but other arrangements may be considered.
