SEA CHANGE INVESTMENT FUND Description:The Sea Change Investment Fund (the "Fund") is a private equity fund which seeks to make transformative investments in progressive, fishery-related companies that promote market access to seafood from sustainable sources. The Fund has been formed to capitalize on the favorable conditions for investment in the North American market for seafood from sustainable sources.
The Fund will invest in a diversified portfolio of companies using a number of strategies which collectively will have a positive impact on the North American seafood market and the fisheries on which it depends.These strategies include the restructuring of distribution channels, the consolidation of market strength for small sustainable suppliers, the development / expansion of sustainable fishing enterprises, the increase of sustainable supply, and the creation of new markets for seafood from sustainable sources.Please see www.seachangefund.comfor more information.
Description of Position:CEA is looking for a highly skilled and motivated professional for the position of Associate.The successful applicant will be integrally involved in all aspects of the Fund's investment and portfolio-related activities, as well as CCIF's conservation finance work.The Fund portion of the position typically involves deal evaluation activities and direct portfolio company contact, which may necessitate travel within North America.The CCIF-related work may involve international travel.The work environment is informal and usually intensive.
Responsibilities will include:
Sea Change Investment Fund
- Cultivating and assessing investment opportunities from a quantitative and a qualitative standpoint;
- Performing due diligence on investment opportunities;
- Creating the investment thesis for compelling investment opportunities and presenting that thesis to the Fund's Managing Principals;
- Assisting in the deal structuring, negotiating and closing processes; and
- Working with portfolio companies to facilitate the achievement of their financial and operational goals.
CCIF
- Providing strategic and financial consulting services to philanthropic foundations and non-governmental organizations;
- Building financial models which represent short and long-term budget requirements for conservation projects; and
- Structuring mechanisms for the sustainable financing of long-term conservation projects.
Required Qualifications:The successful applicant will have the following minimum qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or higher from a major university,preferably in a field requiring complex analytical/quantitative methods and skills;
- At least two years experience as an analyst / associate with a major investment bank or business consultancy;
- A history of involvement in analytically complex projects;
- Very strong Excel financial modeling skills;
- Excellent writing skills;
- A committed interest in the conservation-related mission of the Fund and CCIF;
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multi-task; and
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with senior management of portfolio and potential portfolio companies.
TERM:A commitment of at least 2 years is preferred.
