The Izaak Walton League of America, founded in 1922, protects and conserves our shared heritage of wildlife, clean air and water, forests and soils. Our members and staff combine hands-on conservation action, policy work with legislatures and resource agencies, and public education to pursue our conservation goals at the local, state, and national levels. As a strong responsible voice representing outdoor recreationists, we occupy a special niche in the conservation community.

Save Our Streams (SOS) is a national watershed education and outreach program. For more than 30 years, SOS has developed innovative educational programs for groups and individuals. SOS has educated and motivated citizens to clean-up stream corridors, monitor stream health, restore degraded stream banks and protect dwindling wetland acreage.

The Save Our Streams Program Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Watershed Programs, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Save Our Streams program. He/She has responsibility for managing stream-related activities for the Watershed Programs and assisting the Director on all other watershed and wetland events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Coordinate all aspects of the League's watershed workshops and public events.
* Teach workshops on stream and wetland ecology, biological stream monitoring, stream enhancement, and environmental education.
* Present conservation case studies and watershed information at meetings and conferences.
* Research stream related projects or publications.
* Contribute to the production of newsletters, program brochures, Web content, books, and other publications.
* Make recommendations to the Director on how to change, update and improve the program and publications.
* Provide technical assistance to League members, grassroots groups, businesses, government agencies and others on stream ecology, biological monitoring and habitat enhancement techniques.
* Assist in the preparation and production of proposals and donor reports.
* Perform prospect research and assist in the development of new project ideas.
* Supports and serves on committees and special project boards as necessary.
* Assists the Director of Watershed Programs on other matters as required.

Special considerations:
Travel and some weekend work are required. When using personal vehicle for work, mileage will be reimbursed by IWLA. Job description subject to change as new projects are added or deleted.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in the natural sciences.
* At least 2 years in experience in project coordination and environmental education/outreach.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Computer proficient.
* Knowledge of stream and wetland ecology preferred.
* Experience with fundraising and working with corporate donors preferred.
* Ability to work well with a diverse group of colleagues, donors, staff, members, and volunteers.
* Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks in a high work load environment.
* Independent worker, self-starter and team player. * Dedicated to advancing the cause of conservation and natural resource stewardship.
