Description

DRI Energy seeks an individual to lead its solar project development and sales efforts in the commercial and industrial building markets, with a focus in those states offering substantial incentives for solar power, such as California. Position reports to division COO and will be based in either Irvine or San Leandro, California.

Specific Responsibilities: 

The Sales Executive, Project Development will be responsible for assessing potential customers' energy needs and interest in solar systems, developing winning proposals, negotiating and securing contracts for solar installations, and ensuring the successful execution of contracted projects.  

This individual will leverage DRI's existing roofing systems' sales force in the commercial and industrial markets, and support their lead generation activities, along with the following:

  • Identify and qualify prospects in the commercial and industrial sectors
  • Deliver targeted and differentiable presentations and proposals that result in a robust pipeline of well qualified prospects
  • Negotiate and secure contracts with building owners and end-users that support the expected revenue growth of the division, leveraging DRI's existing relationships and value proposition of its service offering.
  • Develop effective solar sales prospecting tools for DRI's existing roofing systems' sales force, and processes to enable effective lead qualification leveraging the existing sales force. Support DRI's sales force in introducing solar solutions to their existing customers.
  • Assess prospects' electricity consumption, costs and solar self-generation opportunities. Model the financial impact (simple payback and NPV) of a solar system for a specific commercial and industrial customer, taking into consideration variances in electric rates, project costs, electricity generated by proposed system, and financing mechanisms for the proposed system.
  • Perform high level physical assessment of prospects' roof space and site limitations for installing a solar system.
  • Present different financing options for funding proposed solar projects to financial decision makers.
  • Secure maintenance and/or service agreements for after-sales services to existing solar customers. 

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated track record of generating and growing sales
  • Experience in the Solar Power industry
  • Five+ years of direct business to business sales experience of industrial products or services based on financial return on investment.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences or business; MBA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office suite and Excel in particular.
  • Expertise in financial modeling and proposal development tools for business-to-business sales.
  • Ability to thrive in a start-up environment, with limited direction and broad responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Power Generation and/or Construction Industries.
  • Experience in developing on-site generation, energy efficiency and/or utility-scale power plant projects.
  • Knowledge of commercial and industrial electric rate structures and incentives for solar power.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification.
