The Bald Head Island Conservancy is an environmental non-profit organization that champions the sustainability of barrier islands through environmental research and stewardship. Bald Head Island (BHI) is a barrier island on the SE NC coast accessible only via ferry from Southport, NC.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Staff are involved in conservation research with government agencies and university scientists; education programs for island visitors, residents, and school groups; retail sales through our Turtle Central Gift Shop; and operation of our well-known Sea Turtle Protection Program. We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as the Retail Buyer and Marketing Specialist within our Turtle Central Gift Shop.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to drive online traffic to the company’s websites and social media platforms
- Manage and optimize performance marketing campaigns across various channels, including social media advertising
- Run and analyze sales and inventory reports to inform order needs
- Place merchandise orders and process purchase orders
- Research potential vendors and products
- Attend new product trade shows
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years purchasing and/or inventory management experience and retail merchandise buying
- Quickbooks proficiency
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling content for various digital channels
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
POSITION DETAILS
- Reports directly to Director of Finance and Business Operations
- Full-time position with health, dental, disability benefits
- Ferry tickets and parking at mainland ferry terminal are provided
- Standard M-F work week with occasional duties in evenings, weekends, and holidays
COMPENSATION
- Salary range is $35-40K+ based on experience.
