Description

The Minnesota Environmental Initiative is offering an opportunity for part- or full-time employment to lead the organization's land use program, Resources for Redevelopment. The R4R Director reports to MEI's Executive Director.

R4R is focused on creating innovative options for reusing and redeveloping land across the state. R4R's goal is to facilitate the reuse of properties for affordable housing, nonprofit facilities, green space, natural areas and other open spaces.

Building on ten years of innovative brownfields redevelopment experience, R4R now seeks to promote and support the creation of models for sustainable urban redevelopment. In this new scope of work, R4R will integrate principles of sustainable land use, green building, energy efficiency and environmentally responsible landscaping through on-the-ground redevelopment projects.

The Minnesota Environmental Initiative is a 14-year old nonprofit organization that builds partnerships among business, government and environmental groups to develop solutions to the state's environmental problems. R4R is one of MEI's four programs.

The successful candidate for this position will be an individual dedicated to MEI's unique mission, with a commitment to land use issues and sustainable development.

Job responsibilities include:

? Management of a major program for a growing and highly successful environmental nonprofit.
? Building working partnerships among community organizations, government, nonprofit groups, developers and others to design and implement redevelopment projects that exemplify the principles of sustainability.
? Managing innovative projects, such as an on-going partnership between MEI, Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and the Twin Cities Metropolitan Council to make urban land safe and available for the construction of affordable housing. Education and/or experience requirements:
? Four-year Bachelor's degree in a related field.
? Experience managing complex projects, including budget management and fundraising.
? Substantial experience with land use, sustainable development and urban redevelopment issues.
? Supervisory experience.
? Outstanding team player.
? Excellent communicator (phone, email, written).
? Ability to both think strategically and manage logistical details effectively.
? Entrepreneurial spirit.
? Proficient with Microsoft Office functions.
