Description

Duties:
The Resource Planner works on planning, analysis, acquisition and management of electric, natural gas and water resources.

Work includes development and implementation of commodity price risk management strategies, short and long-term resource planning, contract analysis and negotiation.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Familiarity with FERC, CEC, ISO and PG&E transmission planning processes and associated regulatory and legislative processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of California energy and/or water markets with the skills and ability to assist and formulate in management of short-term and long-term strategies for managing the risk of the energy and/or water portfolios
  • Ability to independently analyze energy and/or water portfolios using sophisticated computer modeling; expertise in using and programming applications including MS office applications, MS Access, Visual Basic and energy trading and risk management systems.

This position is included in the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU) representation unit. Employees are required either to join the union or pay a servicefee for representation.

Qualifications:
Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities which would typically be acquired through:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or other related field (Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Six years of increasingly responsible experience in utilities resource planning, acquisition and portfolio management (Engineering degree may substitute for two years of experience).
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or other related field and/or registration as a Professional Engineer may be considered in lieu of one year's experience. and/or practical exam.

Terms:
Salary Range: $6,624 - $8,285 Monthly
