Progressive artists’ retreat and conference center in the Adirondack Mountains seeks a mature, organized, humorful, self-starting residential program coordinator. The work is varied, demanding and highly rewarding. The Coordinator is in residence for the Center’s April 15-Thanksgiving season.
The Coordinator should have an active interest in the arts, literature, and progressive social change. S/he should have demonstrable work experience and a willingness to perform the extensive administrative, and the many routine elements of the job. Additionally, good communication skills, a sense of humor, experience with writing and editing, comfort with computers, and an affection for one’s species are invaluable.
BMC is an isolated and somewhat intense community that requires substantial time commitments from the residential staff while guests are in session. Between the work day, communal meals, and evening presentations, there is very little personal time during the 8 month season, but for the right person the rewards are incomparable.
The Coordinator position consists of three primary areas of responsibility: Office Manager, On-Site Host, and Innkeeper. In addition, all BMC residential staff assist in the organic vegetable and flower garden.
Benefits include 4-month leave (December – April), $25,000 annual salary, room and full-board for the season, year-round health insurance, highly stimulating company and a glorious setting.
