Oklahoma State University has a current opening for a Research Specialist to provide analytical chemistry support for the soil chemistry program.
Responsibilities:
Perform all aspects of chemical analysis of soil, water, plant, biological tissue, and waste materials. Conduct greenhouse and field studies. Provide routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Daily supervision of laboratory technicians. Management of laboratory records and ordering of lab supplies. The incumbent will be required to perform field and lab work, collect, analyze, and interpret data, supervise students, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
bachelors in soil science, chemistry, agronomy, environmental science, or related discipline; must have knowledge of and experience with procedures and techniques of analytical chemistry including a sound understanding of instrumental methods theory (this includes knowledge and experience in operation of GC, HPLC, AA, GC-MS and ICP.); prior laboratory experience with chemical/instrumental methods used for plant, soil, water, biological tissue, and environmental samples is essential; experience with chemical/instrumental methods used for plant, soil, water, biological tissue and environmental samples; experience with automated data acquisition systems and/or electronics desirable; and experience with rainfall simulation experimentation and lysimpters/automatic samplers desirable.
Preferred:
Prefer candidate with M.S. plus 2 years of related experience and knowledge and experience in laboratory chemical analysis plus field work involving soil and water quality research.
Compensation: Hiring Range: $2085 - $3091. This is a full-time position with benefits.
