Description

The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 18,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry, united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, seeks a Research Project Manager (RPM) to develop a portfolio of work on issues related to building performance, occupant experience, and real estate market analysis.

USGBC's Research Program conducts applied, question-driven research and innovation to advance green building practice. The RPM's work will include the development of new geospatial databases including information on green building projects, performance, and solutions. The RPM will be part of the Research Program staff under the supervision of the Vice President, Research.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of a comprehensive geospatial database on high-performance, green buildings and communities
  • Contribute to the development of a business strategy for a web-based, map-centric information portal
  • Analyze attributes of LEED projects, including use of green building strategies, operational performance, and use of specific products and services
  • Prepare technical reports, maps, white papers, and peer-reviewed publications
  • Effectively develop scopes of work and manage projects by contractors
  • Develop and foster collaborative research relationships
  • Represent the Research Program to diverse stakeholders
  • Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. computer science, quantitative geographic analysis, building science, architecture, engineering, environmental science
  • Demonstrated experience with project management for databases and web-based tools
  • Working knowledge of building industry stakeholder roles and processes involved in building project inception, design, delivery and operations
  • Research experience related to built environments
  • Technical skills for information management and data analysis, such as Microsoft Access, SQL Server, .Net, VBA, C#, ArcGIS, Matlab, Splus, Stella, etc.
  • Commitment to USGBC mission

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. computer science, quantitative geographic analysis, building science, architecture, engineering, environmental science
  • At least 2 years work experience involving quantitative building performance analysis
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing projects using geospatial information technology
  • Demonstrated experience with the application of Geographic Information Systems to the analysis of buildings and land use
  • Accreditation as LEED Green Associate or LEED Accredited Professional
  • Experience developing project scopes of work, work plans, and cost estimates
