EIRIS is a global Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) research consulting firm which conducts research into the environmental, social, governance (ESG) and ethical performance of companies.
With over 25 years experience of conducting research and promoting responsible investment strategies, EIRIS now provides services to more than 100 asset owners and asset managers globally. In the last 10 years new EIRIS research has focussed on the risks and exposure of companies in key ESG areas, and how companies are responding. EIRIS works with clients to create their own ESG ratings and rankings, to engage with companies and to create specific funds for their clients.
EIRIS has a multinational team of over 50 staff based in London, UK with smaller offices in Paris and Boston. The EIRIS USA office comprises a small team of Research Analysts who assess companies against predefined research criteria. The EIRIS network includes research organisations in Australia, France, Israel, Germany, Spain and South Korea, and now covers over 2,800 companies globally.
Position Overview:
We are currently seeking 2 part-time eight-week interns for our Boston office, starting on June 14th, focusing on companies' relationships with stakeholders, their involvement in sensitive areas, as well as updating company contact details. This will entail the ability to search websites and data sources efficiently and to accurately follow standard format and procedures.
This internship offers the opportunity to gain an understanding of particular practical issues facing companies, and to gain experience of work in a well-established research organisation with a focus on ethical issues.
EIRIS USA is located at 89 South St in Boston 02111, close to South Station.
2 part-time internships for 8 weeks from 14th June 2010 (2.5 days per week).
Qualifications:
Some knowledge of company information and experience of dealing with external organisations in a work situation as well as an interest in general Corporate Social Responsibility issues will be an advantage. A first degree (or working towards) in a relevant subject is required as is the ability to work to tight deadlines. A project summary detailing work undertaken will be required at the end of the internship.
You should have basic MS Office and web-search skills, and intermediate knowledge of Excel. You should be able to produce good quality research following established methodologies. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential. Additionally, knowledge of how to handle large databases will be needed.
Compensation: These internships are unpaid but EIRIS will reimburse your expenses for travel on public transport between home and work, and also your midday meal up to a maximum of $10 per day. EIRIS would be willing to work with your university to support your application for academic credit or external funding for this position.
